Sleep habits
We had a fun month this month.
Between seperation anxiety, practicing her new skills, a growth spurt, and a new brace, we have had a LOT of tears at sleep time (and not just on the baby!)

She also loves this lovey.
She will fall asleep while rubbing the silk edges and she is always either holding it or chewing on it when she wakes up.

New/Favorite Foods
Lyla just loves food and is officially a little pig pen.  She eats anything and everything in sight!  When we spoon feed her she squeals and grunts because we are not feeding her fast enough so we have pretty much just let her feed herself for every meal.

Favorite Toys
Anything that's not toys.

Or any toy she can stand up on

Activity Table / Ballcano / Walker / Activity Cube

New or Favorite Words/Sounds
Oh our little chatter box.
Girlfriend talks up a storm and also LOVES to squeal at the top of her lungs when she's excited.

Oh, and the best is when she fakes a cough to get attention.

Favorite Activity
Standing up
... On EVERYTHING

Top 5 this month
1) Jesse's first Father's Day

2) Trip to the Zoo

3) Our new method of taking showers
(which has now become an almost daily experience since she loves it so much)

4) Spending every second we can outside in this AMAZING weather!

5) Opening a new etsy shop and making Lyla be my model

Lyla also got a new brace this month.
We did her follow up X-Ray and the doctor said that, even though her hips are still in a fairly "normal range" there are still some trouble points and it would be best to brace her again.

She is suppose to wear it 16-20 hours a day right now (she sleeps 15-16 hours a day so that's most of her time!) and hopefully at some point it will go back down to only at night.   She will most likely be wearing the brace until she is at least 2 years old.   It has taken some adjusting but overall she is doing great with it!

Lyla is:
ON-THE-GO!
We are constantly on our toes with this one.
She is into EVERYTHING!!!!

I love her, and her inquisitive spirit oh-so-much!
Now... off to childproof and clean everything in sight....

Exciting Beginings

I started this blog last year after I stumbled upon a cute idea on Pinterest. I'm sure you all know (and love) Jessica at little baby garvin and her amazing chalkboards and adorable daughter. I copied the format for her pregnancy post and did a little documentation of my own journey. This was a simple little no-one-will-ever-read-this-except-my-mother kinda blogs.  She is over 3,000 miles away from me and this was how she could enjoy my pregnancy (and her first grandchild) with us.

Fast forward to a couple months ago and I started filling nap times with browsing through this little blog world. I began really falling in love with so many blogs and began looking at my own differently. Ideas started forming of how I would like to express myself creatively and share our journey through life and parenting.  I want need this outlet.

You see- I've been on leave from work for a year now.
Being a flight attendant, I had to stop flying in my third trimester.
Selling Thirty-One has helped keep me busy but I still needed something more.

One new outlet is that I've started crafting again and I just opened a new Etsy shop!

Dots & Darlings is a shop filled with adorable handmade bow headbands.

I've been working like mad over here to get all my inventory uploaded and hopefully will have my entire collection online in the next day or so.
{It's a slow process when you have an 8 month old to keep an eye on!}

I hope you stop by and see the cute stuff!

AAAAND I'm starting a new-and-improved blog to go with it!
It will be a nice fresh start with a new and improved vision.

It's all in the works right now so stay tuned! :)

Pin*spiration: 1st Birthday

Is it ever too early to plan a birthday party?
I think not.

With a little over three months to plan, I'm already pinning away at idea's for my little Lyla Lu Lu's big beautiful birthday bash.

Here's some of my top pin*spirations:

Looking at these themes, I was set on doing a vintage circus party.   I just kept finding more and more fun things to do with that theme.  But as I pinned away, I started realizing that this theme might be a touch more fun if Lyla was a little older and could play some of the awesome game ideas that would be oh-so-cute at the party.

Then, I was at Michaels two weeks ago and found the mother-load.  I found all these ADORABLE button theme items on mega clearance.

I knew in that moment what our theme would be.

Then, to my surprise, as I kept shopping at JoAnn fabrics and Target I started collecting even more items ON SALE!

My birthday collection has grown a great deal and it makes me giddy to think about how little money I have spent so far.

This is why it's never too early to pick a theme for a party.
I still have 3 more months to collect more super cute sale items!

Would a vintage circus 1st Birthday theme still be adorable?  Y-E-S!
{Will it be Lyla's 2nd birthday theme?  A HUGE PROBABLY!}

But the way I see it is- you really only have one year (possibly two) to get away with a super-cute, low fuss theme.
{And then soon after that your babies will start requesting some crazy purple ninja ballerinas as their theme and then you'll really be in for it!}

I really am excited to put this all together.

Incase you want to run out to the stores and scoop up some of these adorable items (if you're in Anchorage-- good luck... I've pretty much cleared the shelves) then check out some more inspirational "cute as a button" pictures:
